Clark had surgery on Tuesday this week to correct a minor birth defect. The pre-op discussion I had with the Dr. was a breeze, but the anesthesiologist left me feeling a little uneasy with his description of the cocktail of drugs he'd be administering. yipes! I think the doctors could tell that I had a hard time handing my baby over even though I knew things would turn out just fine.
When I got to see Clark again in recovery, he was hardly recognizable as my baby. He was so groggy, screaming, dry lips and mouth, raspy-voiced, wouldn't eat, etc. It was terrible, but he finally calmed down and was happy in no time. He quickly became the star of the recovery room and all the nurses came by to see him. One even asked to hold him.
Clark came home with a catheter and a whole lot of medicines. He's doing really well and doesn't seem to be in pain...except for 6 times a day when he has to take his meds. Then there's a lot of gagging, screaming, coughing, and gulping. It's sad. I can't wait until we're done with medicine.

Oh, little Clark! I'm glad that things went well and that you're on the mend!
What a cutie. Maybe it was the same thing Wyatt has, but when we went to the doctor a week ago he said that it looked fine and that Wyatt wasn't going to need surgery! Hooray! Glad it's over and done with for you, no matter what it was.
Anesthesia is always scary, no matter how minor the procedure. Sorry you had to go through that with your sweet baby! Glad everything went well and that you're both recovering!
We're happy things went so well! Max had a cranioplasty at 7 months, and i thought the same thing when I went to pick him up - I didn't recognize him and his cry was so sad!! Here's to a speedy recovery!
Makes you enjoy the small moments even more I think. Hope that he mends quickly!
Kalina, I didn't know all this happened! I wish I'd known so I could have done something to help! I'm glad he's doing well. He's so sweet :)
