DIY Saturday

I decided to paint the nursery this week. Do you think that's last-minute or anything?? I found a green building store here in Houston that sells their own brand of no-VOC paint.  Think Mythic paint, which is supposedly safe for women with babies inside, but $15 cheaper/gallon.  I had limited, time-consuming success painting by myself one evening this week so Steve and his expert effeciency stepped in to help me today. 

To sum up our experience...

the Goods: paint dried fast, low odor, half the paint crew had a fun time

the Bads: paint didn't provide the 1-coat coverage it claimed. lame!

Baby B: Sneak Peek

Until we meet our new family member, it's anyone's guess what he will look like.  I got an email today directing me here to make a virtual baby.

The first baby was...well...as Steve put it "he's not going to look like that!"

I recropped Steve for the second attempt which was a little more encouraging.  I'm not sure if the cropping made a difference or if the takeaway from this activity was to always make sure our little boy is wearing a hat? 

We can't wait to see what the real Baby B will look like!  I'm predicting a mini Steve.

To All the Starers

Dear Strangers That Like to Stare at My Stomach:

I've noticed there are an awful lot of you out there these days.  Steve has even started to notice you.  I don't blame you though: I am also amazed at how much my tummy has grown these past few weeks!  I would probably stare if I were you too.  In fact, I might even go so far as taking a picture or two: 

...then posting them online!  Just know that we're so excited to meet the little boy wiggling around in my oversized belly...you know...that thing you like to stare at...

Almost There

Nursery Neglect

One of the most common questions I get now that I'm less than 4 weeks from my due date is, "So is your nursery all ready?"  I guess "ready" is subjective, but judging by its current state (bottom right) I would say N.O.

While it's true that I have neglected this project for the better part of 8 months, things are starting to take off.  To borrow from the today's economic climate forecasters I'm "cautiously optimistic" it'll be more recognizable as a baby's room a few weeks from now.
