In Training

Steve likes training for things: races, contests...and holding babies.  I have no question he'll make a terrific dad--I've seen him practicing. a lot. on every baby he can get his hands on.  It's too cute!  I love how excited he is to welcome a baby into our family.  awwww....   

Whip It!

This pretty well sums up our date last night--a far cry from the ol' dinner and a movie.  Neither of us knew anything about roller derby before yesterday, but we're now fully educated.  We showed up to the bout 'bout 15 minutes after it started (ha! bad joke...) and quickly realized why they open the doors an hour before it starts.  The place was packed--standing room only!  We could hardly see a thing and the announcer might as well have been speaking Mongolian since it was totally unrecognizable.  Steve and I spent about an hour scouting for a better view/seats.  I ended up on an exercise bike for a few minutes, and he claimed a random stool for a while.  We finally gave up on Houston Roller Derby and retreated to an air conditioned venue to watch Whip It.  For anyone interested in the educational, cultural experience that is Houston Roller Derby, I would recommend getting there early!    

Trip to the Blueberry Farm

Tonight I went with my friends to a pick-your-own blueberry farm for the first time.  We were there just under 2 hours and I picked 12.84 lbs.  At $1.50/lb I felt like a thief walking away with my big bags of blue gems. 

The picking itself was easy but took a while.  The all-you-can-eat policy lets you fill up your belly as you fill up your bucket at no charge.  As you can see, my belly is already pretty full, so I focused more on getting the goods in the bucket.  It was a fun little weeknight excursion I'd recommend to anyone (with a little extra freezer space)!     

Men Don't Understand...

Steve admitted to me yesterday that he didn't understand why I would be making an apron "when we already have so many" (which is debatable).  That's the practical approach, but if necessity was the driver behind this project I would've made one that fits my current figure.  Isn't "because I felt like it" a good enough reason?
