Allergy Averse

I am extraordinarily paranoid about food allergies so I've been slowly introducing new foods into Clark's diet. Everything I've tried so far has been fine with the exception of dairy and wheat. If he has either of those he breaks out in a rash around his mouth and once after just a teaspoon of milk-based formula the rash spread to his whole face. Some children outgrow food allergies/sensitivities, but it'll be quite some time before I'm brave enough to try either of those again.

Bedhead

Clark has just the right sleeping technique that now when he rolls out of bed there's a little mohawk that comes with him. I couldn't make a better one if I tried.

Ensign Peak

Since tomorrow is Pioneer Day I thought it would be appropriate to post the pictures I took of Clark and me hiking Ensign Peak a few weeks ago. It was a gorgeous morning and a quick little hike. I told Clark about its significance for our pioneer ancestors as we enjoyed the sweeping view of the Salt Lake valley below. I'm sure the pioneers would be surprised to see how things have changed since they first arrived in 1847!

FHE a la Pineview

We turned Family Home Evening into Family Boat Evening a couple weeks ago. I highly recommend this to anyone. Curt drove us up to Pineview Reservoir after work and we took rough rides--Steve on the wakeboard and me on the slalom--behind the boat in the choppy water. Beggars can't be choosers so I gladly take whatever I can get!
Curt, who you might say is...my brother from another mother?
My man, slicing it up.
We didn't have the right PFD in the boat for Clark part of the time. This one looked more like a Halloween costume with a head and legs sticking out.
My cousins came too. It was a party!
Grandpa got some giggles out of my little guy.

It was a perfect evening: beautiful sunset, gorgeous scenery, so fun, and being together with family. Thank you, Curt!

Idaho Tradition

We recently returned from a trip to Utah and Idaho. My family has a summer tradition to get together with my dad's family on a lake in rural Idaho.
It was fun to see everyone,
of course we took a lot of pictures,
we had the traditional Maddox burgers,
we hung out by the water,
there is always something to fix,
we took walks,
watched spectacular fireworks over the water,
and Clark took his first boat ride. He didn't even mind wearing a life jacket.
Our glorious trip wasn't without incident, however. When we went to leave, the rig we rode up in wouldn't take us back home. Steve provided us passengers some comic relief by doing his best to look like he was fixing the problem...ha ha.
We enjoyed our extra bit of time outdoors, then hitched rides back home.

Brothers are for Pranks

When my brother announced a few weeks ago via text that his son--Jimmer Ute--had been born, I was...embarrassed? How do you tell people you have a nephew named Jimmer Ute?  What does that even mean? When I finally asked him about it, he laughed that I fell for his joke. doh! I got to meet the precious little Kyle (not Jimmer) when he was three weeks old. He is so cute and so tiny!

Carried

Remember that time that we have 4 strollers? and yet we still prefer to just carry our little man where possible? He's only this small once so the strollers will have to wait just a bit longer...

Shortest Hike Ever

I intended to go hiking with one of my pretty sisters but we didn't get very far. These things tend to happen when cameras are present.

this was her favorite shot:
