Family Date Night

We've been enjoying the numerous trails around downtown in our mild winter.  Our last outing was for family date night and we happened to run into several people from church. Glad we got the memo on that one.

He Was Running...

This guy has been running a lot.  He's training for a marathon in March.  Hopefully for his race there will be a big crowd of elderly belly dancers performing for the runners at mile 18, as there were for the Houston marathoners this morning.  Good times.

Arm's Length

The other day I decided to try arm's length self-portraits of Clark and me while playing.  It was pretty funny.  Whenever I get my camera out Clark stops whatever he's doing to look at it (probably because he likes looking at red objects e.g. my camera).  He managed to take his eyes off the camera for a second to stick his tongue out at me.

For Grandma

Grandmas like pictures.  One grandma especially likes pictures of Clark doing something other than lying down.  Shots of one happy upright boy = two happy grandmas.

Something New

And now for something totally new to my blog...a picture of Clark!  Oh wait...that's not actually new.  When I was pregnant I was not going to turn into one of those people who only posts pictures of their kids.  Look what happened.  I do make an effort to put mine or Steve's mug up at least every 5 or so posts just so people that know us can see that we're alive and well.  Stuff we do, however, doesn't seem as photo-worthy as stuff Clark does.  For instance, I probably wouldn't think to take a picture of Steve 'on his tummy'.

4-Month Checkup

I took Clark to the doctor today for his 4-month checkup.  Here's how he's growing:

Weight - 15 pounds 4 ounces | 50th percentile
Length - 24½ inches | 25th percentile
Head Circumference - 17¼ inches | 80th percentile

Wanted: Inventor

I need someone to invent "reliveable moments."  We've got pictures and video, but those never capture everything about someone or something.  I wish I could bottle up the things Clark does, or a snuggle, or his laugh that I could open and relive whenever I wanted.  I love today with him but miss yesterday just a little.

Oh what would this sentimental mom do without a camera?  Perish the thought!

4 Months

Clark is 4 months old today.

We celebrated by listening to the soundtrack of Clark's screams all day.  boo.  It's been one of those "I'm-going-to-cry-all-day-for-no-apparent-reason" days, but it's his party...
It is such a treat for me to watch this little guy gain new skills in discovering the world around him.  I love the way he sticks out his long pointy tongue, how he kicks when he's excited, how he loves playing with my hands, how he laughs (still on rare occasions), and the way he crinkles his nose sometimes when he smiles.  I even love his sad little face, so scream on, Clark.  Scream on.  Steve and I love our little Baby Clark!

Last Day of the Year

We spent the last little bit of 2010 with hundreds of other Houstonians at Discovery Green Park for the Glowarama event.  There was ice skating, a parade, lights, art, fireworks, and if there had been a stick-your-tongue-out contest Clark would've won.  Having just come from a real winter climate, we seemed to be the only ones not bundled up in coats and blankets for the 65 degree weather.  Happy 2011!

Related

Clark met a lot of family members for the first time during our visit to Utah: 6 cousins, 5 aunts, 5 uncles, 2 great grandmas, 1 grandpa, 1 great grandpa, 1 Curt, and lots of other extended family.  We're so glad we were able to see everyone!

Very Merry

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Clark.  We were able to spend the whole day in the company of our great families.
