Aunt Kara's House

We recently got to spend some time at Aunt Kara's House. She and Dave have a cute house with a great pool they let us swim in. It was Lana's first time in a pool and the amount of fun she had wore her out. We played basketball and whizzed down the slide but Clark's very favorite thing was the hose. He would've played with that all day if he could. Kara and Dave were excellent hosts and we're so glad they let us stay.

Lana's Eating Solids

Lana got her first taste of food yesterday in the form of homemade rice cereal. She took to it pretty well after she realized the spoon wasn't a toy I was offering her. She made the usual range of expressions babies make when trying food for the first time. I love that! Though she wasn't spitting the food out it was still tricky to get it in. It'll take some practice to get this food thing down but we're off to a good start.
A lot of people ask me if Lana has any food allergies that I'm aware of and my answer is: I guess we'll find out. I suspect she won't have as many as Clark though. It's a wee bit scary to start down the path of introducing foods again but I'm mentally more prepared this time.

Lana is 6 Months

Lana is 6 months old! Big milestones seem to sneak up on me faster with baby #2. At 6 months Lana is crawling, has a slight preference for mama these days, loves being held, and cries when I walk away from her. She likes looking upside down and will grab anything within reach. She's got a little "song" she sings and if you sing it to her she'll sing back. Light hair has replaced all her dark newborn hair, though in certain light (and pictures) it has a henna tint.
Here are her current stats:
Height: 26" - 59th percentile
Weight: 15lbs - 30th percentile
This last one I took after our pictures, while we were using our backdrop to play.

Blueberry Picking

We drove out to Hockley, TX today go pick blueberries at a blueberry farm with our cousins. Clark was an excellent helper, picking only the blue ones. He seemed like a perfect little picker since he could sneak into the bushes and grab those hard-to-reach berries.

About halfway through our picking time, Clark discovered that he could eat the berries and his picking turned into: "pick one, eat a handful (or two)." That turned into: "shove fistfuls of berries into mouth until bucket is empty, then abandon bucket."

I ended up taking 2 lbs. + a boy's belly full of berries home. As we left the farm Clark told me "that was fun!" I agreed!
