Day at the [Smelly] Beach

Last Saturday we spent the day at Surfside Beach with four of Steve's siblings. The beach was less than inviting with its mounds of seaweed and accompanying odor. I saw one of ten kids enjoy the water, but for the most part, they preferred to dig in the sand. The ladies visited in the shade while the men frolicked in the waves. Though the beach was sub-par it was fun to get together with everyone.

Glad for Dad

Happy Father's Day! I think I may have enjoyed it just as much or more than Steve this year. Clark and I picked him up a new tie--cliche--but, I secretly made Clark a similar clip on tie so he and Daddy could match for Father's Day. Clark presented Steve with his gift and promptly told him "it's a tie" and ran off before he opened it. ha ha! I also made a video/slideshow that included pictures, videos, and an interview with Clark about his daddy. One of my favorite lines from the show is when I asked Clark what he loved most about his daddy and his response was, "good." Clark did a great job singing "the daddy song" with the primary kids in church today and his cousins were even there to watch. We spent the afternoon eating good food and playing with lots of cousins. Happy Father's Day to this incredible daddy. We love you!

Memorable Memorial Day

We hosted a family BBQ at our house on Memorial Day. We planned on swimming at the nearby community pool, riding bikes, and grilling. What we didn't plan on was rain for most of the day. The rain took a short break in the afternoon so we rushed over to the pool and had the place to ourselves--something I don't suspect will ever happen again! The kids were loving the water, but after just five minutes of play the lifeguards heard thunder and ushered us all back out. I interpreted from the crying that ensued that the kids were disappointed. We moved our party to the playground next to the pool until that got rained out. It poured on the way home but stopped long enough for the kids to ride bikes once or twice around our street. 

We had a good time, even though all our party plans were a total bust!

Oh, Lana

Oh, Lana! is what I think when I see this picture. I believe I was trying to take a picture of her doing some "Lana" thing and she was upset that I was pointing a camera at her so she threw a fit and hid. She's very opinionated and dramatic. Sometimes I'm not quite sure what to do with her besides sit back and watch the amusing antics. 

Spring Family Photo

With all the goings on back on Easter Sunday we didn't quite get around to taking a family Easter picture. So yesterday was our Easter do-over or our what I'll call our spring family photo. Thanks for humoring me, Steve. 

It kind of looks like we were part of a wedding party, but really it was just my scheme to all coordinate this year.
