Into the Woods

On rare occasions I get the urge to make a fantastically elaborate dessert. After seeing this recipe in my inbox (I'm admittedly among M. Stewart's following) I decided to give [a slightly modified version]* a try. You see...I had cherries on hand AND an overdue thank you to deliver to our friend who tended our plants while we were in Yellowstone. As the days passed, and I still hadn't appropriately expressed my appreciation, I felt that a simple plate of cookies would not do. The more belated the thank you, the more spectacular the reward ought to be, right? So, I give you:

p.s. the recipe makes 24 cupcakes--too bad I didn't realize that before I started

*sans kirsch, fresh cherries instead of preserved

Email your pic to MS, and see if she wants to buy it from you, because it's better than hers.

Is that carmel on the top? Looks very delicious.

Wow...I'm kind of glad I didn't read this until after my cherries were gone. It was probably more healthy for me to just gorge myself on the cherries rather than make these beauties! (But not half as mouth watering...)
