Birthday Food Log

I'm not the best party planner so I celebrated my birthday this year by eating. ha ha. When I look back at the pictures, they're all of food so I must've been living it up with good eats. In fact I was. See below. On my birthday eve Steve took me to RA Sushi which is like a nightclub (in the sense that it has loud pumpin' music and crazy dim lighting at night) that serves excellent sushi. 

On my actual birthday Steve made me birthday bread. He's more of a bread baker than a cake maker so he stuck with what he knows and there are no rules against putting a candle in bread. Later on I was surprised with Treat cupcakes from Phil et al. It was so fun having visitors on my birthday. The dinner I had planned to make fell through, along with 2 backups since I had forgotten one ingredient for each during my grocery trip the previous day. whoops. But dinner plan #4--salmon salad--was superb. at 9pm.
Steve took me out again to Chuy's for Mexican, loosely as a second birthday dinner, so that counts enough to get posted here. Happy birthday to me! 

Lana is 7 Months

This little baby never ceases to bring a smile to all of our faces. At 7 months she's crawling like a pro, sleeping through the night, napping 3-ish times a day, smiling often, and babbling all time (mostly dadadada). She's a good little eater but not keen on new flavors so she's still only eating rice cereal with a hint of pears; any more than a hint and she makes a sour face and won't swallow the bite. She likes to stay busy and would rather crawl than sit. She loves the piano and whenever she hears it play starts crawling toward it and shouting. She also loves making loud noises and is so proud of herself whenever she bangs something or finds some way to make a lot of noise.

Lavender and Las Vegas

On our return drive to Las Vegas we stopped at the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, UT. I had no idea a lavender farm could be so recreational, but there was a lot going on there e.g. a small play village, paddle boats in the pond, jousting area, to name a few. We had to walk way to the back of the property to get to this lavender labyrinth. The lavender was lovely--the smell reminds me of pioneer homes--but also a popular spot for bees. Lots of bees.

The further south we went, the hotter it got. Steve spent much of his time on his Blackberry, discussing work issues, as is typical of all of our road trips. 

We stopped in St. George to visit with Pete (Steve's older bro) and family. We don't get to see them very often so it was a treat! The kids adored Lana and found Steve to be a good jungle-gym. Clark was bouncing off the walls which means he was excited to be there. Thanks, Pete + fam for letting us bring the chaos.

We then headed back to Las Vegas to fly home. We had a bit of spare time and thought Clark might like to watch the fountains at Bellagio before going to the airport. It was a literal inferno outside and after 15 minutes of standing on the sidewalk to catch a short water show we scuttled back inside to find A/C. That must've been the hottest outside temperature I've ever felt. yikes! 

The 4th

It always takes me awhile to go through all the photos from a vacation. I usually think I didn't take enough, but when it comes to posting them it seems like I took too many. Here are a few of our adventures from the Idaho leg of our journey. We went there for the 4th of July +2. Clark probably had more fun than any of us since he got a bit sick after jetskiing, tubing, swinging, blowing bubbles, playing with cousins endlessly, riding in Uncle Ryan's kayak, and throwing rocks. Steve tried to keep up by jetskiing, boating, go-carting, swimming across the bay, shooting, hammocking, and eating Maddox burgers twice.
